INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional: sesame seeds or coarse salt for topping

PREPARATION:

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil; stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rest for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Divide dough into thin strips about 1/2 inch wide.
  6. Roll each strip into a long thin breadstick shape. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Optional: brush with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds or coarse salt.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
